RIU Hotels & Resorts is currently completing a full renovation of its iconic Hotel Riu Palace Macao in Punta Cana. Following an investment of over 11 million euros, the hotel will reopen on 4 August with a new decorative style along with new restaurants and services. From the beginning of the coming Winter season, the Riu Palace Macao will be the perfect choice for couples who are looking for a relaxing stay, as the hotel will be RIU’s first 'Adults Only' hotel in the Americas.
This represents a totally new and innovative concept for RIU in its Punta Cana complex, where they now have five hotels: the recently opened Riu Palace Bavaro, the elegant Riu Palace Punta Cana, and the redesigned Riu Bambu and Riu Naiboa family hotels. They can now add to this list an option which is exclusively for over 18’s.
The Riu Palace Macao was the first hotel in the Palace range in the Americas, and has built its success on a loyal client base who have made it their first holiday choice year after year. The hotel will maintain its colonial style facade, however its interior design will be modernised in line with the new style which is being implemented by RIU throughout its hotels.
The 364 rooms have been completely renovated, with new furniture, décor, linen and drapes, flat screen televisions, showers instead of baths, and hydromassage baths available in the suites. The rooms are bright and spacious, with predominantly white décor, and featuring daring touches of colours such as fuchsia.
The lobby will offer a 'Capuchino' Cafe, the new brand of coffee shop and patisserie which RIU has introduced in the new hotels in the Palace range. In addition to this, the gastronomic experience has been enhanced thanks to the inclusion of new ‘Volare’ Italian restaurant and 'Pancho' Steak House, to complement the 'El Patio' buffet, the Japanese 'Kabuki' and the 'Krystal' fusion restaurants.
The pool and garden areas have been totally remodelled. As the hotel is designed to appeal to a mature age group, the kids’ zone has been removed to make way for a new pool and swim-up bar, adjacent to the re-designed central swimming pool.
The 'La Boheme' lounge bar has been renovated, as well as the hotel’s indoor theatre situated next to the lobby. Guests can also enjoy the newly added Casino as well as the Copacabana open air amphitheatre.
As always, guests at the Riu Palace Macao will be able to enjoy the water activities on offer on the beach in front of the hotel, as well as the treatments available in the fully equipped spas at the neighbouring Riu Palace Punta Cana and Riu Palace Bavaro. In addition to the numerous shops on offer on the Caribbean street of the Riu complex, there is also a pharmacy, a gym and the 'Pacha' nightclub.
