PUBLIC Hotel Introduces Bowery Garden

May 2018

Just in time for summer, Ian Schrager’s PUBLIC Hotel is opening its doors – literally – for hotel guests and local New Yorkers alike. Continuing the lifestyle brand’s fundamental premise, LUXURY FOR ALL, a new outdoor dining space – Bowery Garden – will offer guests a tranquil oasis, a respite from the chaotic grit of downtown Manhattan.

“PUBLIC is the PEOPLE’S HOTEL,” said Ian Schrager. “What in New York City is in more need of being democratized than access to outdoor space? I conceived of PUBLIC under the notion of giving everyone exceptional, one-of-a-kind experiences that lift their spirits – and Bowery Garden is a perfect example of that”
Beginning in May, the all-weather outdoor arm of the Jean-Georges-helmed PUBLIC Kitchen will offer guests a new spring dinner menu, inspired by the chef’s worldwide travels that have afforded him a unique perspective. The offering is driven by the market and the seasons, focusing on sustainable seafood, organic poultry and grass-fed meats – and uses the freshest green market fruits and vegetables. The signature flavors produced by the wood-burning oven and wood-burning grill will similarly remain at the crux of the cuisine – and will appear in new menu items like the Roasted Hake, Maine Lobster and Sesame-crusted Asparagus. What’s more, Bowery Garden will begin serving weekend brunch, with the eclectic menu emphasizing worldly takes on breakfast classics.
“Exceptional eating – in an energetic setting – is a cornerstone of the experience that we’re creating at PUBLIC Kitchen, and this approach will continue to remain the focal point with the unveiling of Bowery Garden,” said Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. “We’ll also continue to give guests a casual alternative via LOUIS – part grocery, part luncheonette, part coffee shop and part market, all rolled into one.”
Bowery Garden joins PUBLIC Kitchen, LOUIS, Diego, The Roof and Public Arts as distinct yet harmoniously connected spaces within the property – cozy yet chic, provocative yet refined – that all deliver a familiar and relaxed atmosphere for guests, regardless of one’s generation.
“The reinvention of what luxury means to today’s savvy travelers – at the crux of the PUBLIC philosophy – is ubiquitous throughout the property, Bowery Garden included,” said Schrager. “The space features great service, great style, great experience – at a great price. It’s simplicity as the ultimate measure of sophistication.”
With Ian Schrager continuing to move the needle in hospitality and serve as an authoritative benchmark on what it means to deliver service, style, unique experience and value, Bowery Garden will join the rest of the property in defining what it means to enjoy modern luxury – without the pretense.
