In full bloom: The Dorchester to unveil summer garden with La DoubleJ
The Dorchester‘s summer garden is reinterpreted by Italian fashion house La DoubleJ, bringing a maximalist spirit to Mayfair. Launched on May 20, to coincide with London’s Chelsea Flower Show, The Dorchester’s summer garden will come into full bloom, defined by bold prints, expressive design and sculptural artistry.
Founded by JJ Martin, former Los Angeles editor turned entrepreneur, La DoubleJ quickly became something of an insider obsession, known for its joyful use of colour, mood-lifting prints and commitment to Italian craftsmanship. At The Dorchester, this spirit unfolds as an extension of Vesper Bar into the garden, taking its cue from the bar’s bold interiors by Martin Brudnizki.
Rooted in its philosophy of ‘Raise your Vibration’, layered textiles, expressive table settings and abundant floral moments create a space that feels vibrant and playful. At its centre, tree-high kinetic sculptures by American sculptor Lyman Whitaker introduce movement and rhythm, while a sweeping carpet in La DoubleJ’s signature Napoli Rosa print inspired by the warmth and romance of Southern Italy flows through the garden and across the tableware. Patterned linens, green glassware and sculptural vases sit alongside colourful cushions and parasols, creating a world of discovery.

Running through the installation, La DoubleJ’s Fantastic Creatures print introduces a poetic, imaginary dimension that emerges within the garden itself. An alchemy of blooms, birds and plants’ weaves through the space, echoing the surrounding greenery and moving in rhythm with the sculptures to create a dreamlike landscape where nature, pattern and motion merge into a refined yet magical atmosphere.
From alfresco lunches to afternoon drinks and aperitivo hour, the menu is designed by culinary director Martyn Nail to reflect a relaxed style of dining. Small plates include swordfish crudo, courgette flower fritti with grilled prawns and morsetti di lasagne, alongside signature focaccia sandwiches available to dine in or takeaway, with combinations such as bresaola with sun-dried tomato, mozzarella and pesto, and gorgonzola with pistachio, tomato and rocket. An off-menu focaccia will be available for those in the ‘know’ including a toasted focaccia wrap with crispy chicken, burrata topped with Oscietra Caviar.

The launch of The Dorchester summer garden in collaboration with La DoubleJ follows a four-year renovation journey of the entire hotel, as it proudly unveils the completion of its restoration in June 2026. This milestone is marked by the highly anticipated unveiling of the Royal Suite, which will be available from June 1. Guided by exceptional craftsmanship and an unwavering attention to detail, every element has been thoughtfully refined to honour its heritage while embracing a renewed vision of contemporary luxury.
JJ Martin, founder of La DoubleJ, said; “It’s always a thrill when you find partners with whom you work so easily and effortlessly. This was a dream project. The Dorchester, a symbol of high-end hospitality, has been wonderfully open to putting both our energetic as well as creative imprint on their beautiful property. In the garden, you’ll see many of La DoubleJ’s “Raise Your Vibration” signatures: from our hand-crafted Italian porcelain plates stacked in different patterns, to our wildly coloured linens and pillows, as well as giant wind sculptures that we like to think of as Transmission Towers! It is all joy inducing and very playful.”
Luca Virgilio, General Manager at The Dorchester said; “We are thrilled to partner with La DoubleJ, a brand that I admire and naturally aligns with our creative vision. This collaboration allows us to capture our guests’ attention, transforming our garden into a cultural hub whilst reflecting the energy and vibrancy of London. It also marks a transitional period for us, following a four-year renovation journey of the entire hotel and an exciting new chapter.”
The installation and menu will run from 20 May 2026 until September 2026. For more information, visit
