Stijn Oyen has been appointed Managing Director at Design Hotels AG
Design Hotels is delighted to announce the appointment of Stijn Oyen as Managing Director. Bringing more than 20 years of industry experience to the business, Stijn will lead Design Hotels into its fourth decade of operation—shaping the future vision of the travel industry’s most forward-thinking brand.
With a strong background in hotel operations, Stijn has built a respected reputation working with some of the world’s most well-known hospitality brands, including Relais & Châteaux, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, and W Hotels—winning the prestigious General Manager of the Year award at the 2019 European Hotel Awards while at the helm of the iconic design landmark, W Barcelona.
Stijn has spent the last 20 years with Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts—most recently he held the role of Complex General Manager for three properties in Mallorca: The St. Regis Mardavall Resort; Castillo Son Vida, a Luxury Collection Hotel; and Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel. Relocating from Mallorca to Design Hotels‘ headquarters in Berlin, Stijn will define the future strategy and growth of the Design Hotels’ portfolio, which spans 300 independently owned hotels globally.
In addition to Stijn’s appointment, Sarah Doyle, who joined Design Hotels in June 2022 as VP, Global Brand Leader, has expanded her role to Deputy Managing Director and VP, Global Brand Leader—supporting Stijn and the business as it looks to expand its hotel portfolio in the AMERS and APAC regions.
